Sprinkler Installer
What You Can Expect in This Position:
Reporting to the Manager of Maintenance Response, the Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer plays a vital role in the maintenance and repair of a wide range of life safety systems. This includes preventive maintenance, component replacement, system installations, and ensuring systems are always in top operational condition and compliant with regulations. You will conduct detailed inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, and related systems, while also maintaining thorough documentation and adhering to technical specifications. Additionally, this role involves overseeing contractor work on-site, ensuring quality assurance, security protocols, and coordinating with various trades to maintain the integrity of essential life safety equipment, including fire pumps, flow devices, and backflow preventers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on life safety systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, and related systems, ensuring compliance and operational readiness through inspection, troubleshooting, component replacement, testing, and documentation.
- Lead or coordinate system repairs and installations, interpreting technical documents, laying out components, annotating as-built drawings, troubleshooting, managing system shutdowns, and conducting system testing.
- Oversee and monitor external contractors’ work on-site, including conducting security escorts, ensuring quality assurance, and documenting acceptance or necessary corrections.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on fire protection systems, including fire pumps, flow devices, and backflow preventers. Collaborate with electricians and contractors to ensure systems are fully operational, documenting system performance throughout.
This is a unionized position offering an hourly wage of $50.01 based on a 40-hour workweek. The selected candidate must be ready to begin once a decision is made. A written test will be part of the selection process.
Qualifications:
- Ontario Certificate of Qualification in Sprinkler and Fire Protection Installer (427A)
- 2-5 years of experience as a Sprinkler Fitter
- Confined Space Entry Certificate
- Valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain a “D/A” Class AVOP license upon appointment
- Ability to obtain and maintain Transportation Security Clearance
