Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Field Service
We’re looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Greensboro, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a variety of construction machinery and components, both in the shop and the field. Key Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain construction equipment, including components and assemblies.
- Develop and execute repair plans, determine necessary parts, materials, and tools.
- Perform repairs safely, ensuring quality assurance testing on systems and machines.
- Complete all required documentation, including parts ordering, special tooling usage, and daily service reports.
- Communicate progress on repairs with supervisors and update work orders as needed.
- Handle parts/materials retrieval through the company’s parts ordering system.
- Maintain and care for tools and equipment, including major shop tools (e.g., air compressors, cleaning tanks, overhead cranes).
- Utilize company vehicles, service trucks, and fuel cards properly.
- Keep work areas and service vehicles safe, clean, and organized.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the manager.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology, or four (4) years of relevant apprenticeship experience.
- Technician classification is based on experience, knowledge, and competence.
- Previous experience in heavy equipment repair is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for handling or feeling objects.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb, kneel, lift, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to talk and hear clearly.

Work Environment:
- Exposure to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat or cold, and vibrations.
- The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud.
