Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanic to oversee the daily operations of our boat repair facility. As the Lead Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of boats, with a particular focus on outboard motors. Your expertise and leadership skills will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our shop and the satisfaction of our valued customers.
Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled mechanical work on boats, specializing in outboard motors.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair boat engines, electrical systems, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical components.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
- Provide accurate cost estimates and timeframes for repairs and communicate them to customers effectively.
- Coordinate with the service team to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Train and supervise junior mechanics, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and customer interactions.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to create a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in marine mechanics is preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, specifically working on outboard motors.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot boat engines and systems.
- Excellent knowledge of boat repair techniques, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Compensation
