The Challenge of Finding Good Technicians

01.

Long Vacancy Cycles

Open positions can sit vacant for weeks or months, putting pressure on your existing team and slowing down operations. Every day a role goes unfilled costs you time, money, and productivity.

02.

Low Candidate Quality

Sorting through unqualified resumes is frustrating and time-consuming. Many applicants simply don’t have the hands-on experience, certifications, or reliability your shop needs to keep running efficiently.

03.

High Turnover

Even after you fill a role, keeping technicians long-term can be a challenge. Poor matches lead to wasted onboarding time, disrupted workflows, and recurring hiring costs.

04.

Lost Productivity & Revenue

Each unfilled or mismatched hire impacts more than just your labor force—it hits your bottom line. Missed jobs, delayed projects, and overtime strain can quickly add up to major revenue loss.

The Rockstar 3 Step Process

At Rockstar Mechanics, we’ve simplified hiring without sacrificing quality. Our process blends proven recruiting experience with powerful technology to get you the right candidates—fast.

We Source

You tell us exactly what you’re looking for—experience level, skill set, certifications, and industry background—and we go to work. We actively reach out to our extensive network of qualified candidates across North America. Using both tried-and-true recruiting techniques and modern digital tools, we attract and engage the best technicians for your needs.

We Screen

Once we’ve identified top candidates, we put them through a thorough screening process that can include skills assessments, reference checks, criminal background checks, driving record checks, and detailed interviews. Every recommendation we send meets the criteria you’ve set, ensuring a strong fit for your shop’s requirements and culture. We don’t just send resumes—we present mechanics who are ready to perform from day one.

You Hire

You stay in full control. Once we’ve presented qualified candidates, it’s entirely your choice who to hire. We recommend that every candidate go through your regular selection and interview process, so you can confirm the right fit for your team. Our warranty-backed placements provide added confidence—because we stand behind every hire we make. Whether you’re filling one role or building an entire team, Rockstar Mechanics delivers quality results, fast.

Fire Protection Recruiting FAQ

Answers to common questions we get from fire protection contractors across Canada and the USA.

What fire protection roles do you recruit for?
We recruit for service, install, and inspection/testing roles including Fire Protection Technicians, Sprinkler Fitters, Sprinkler Service Technicians, Fire Alarm Technicians and Installers, Inspectors, Suppression Technicians, and leadership roles such as Foremen, Leads, and Service Managers. We can also support dispatch/service coordination and related operational roles.
Do you recruit for service and new construction?
Yes. We support companies hiring for service/inspections as well as new construction, retrofit, and tenant improvement work. Tell us what type of projects and systems you work on and we’ll target the right candidates.
Do you recruit across Canada and the USA?
Yes. We recruit throughout Canada and the United States. We can run a search locally, regionally, or nationally depending on the role, licensing requirements, and whether you are open to relocation.
Can you help with licensing and certification requirements?
We screen candidates based on the credentials that matter for your work and jurisdiction (for example: CFAA-related experience where applicable, sprinkler trade qualifications, inspection/testing experience, and local/state licensing requirements). Final verification is always completed by the employer as part of onboarding.
How quickly can you present qualified candidates?
Timelines depend on market conditions, licensing requirements, and compensation. Once we have a clear intake call (service vs install, travel/on-call, systems, certifications, and must-have experience), we move fast and keep the process tight so you don’t lose candidates.
Do you recruit for union and non-union roles?
We can support both. Tell us how your crews are structured and what requirements apply (union affiliation, apprenticeship levels, foreman expectations, prevailing wage work, etc.) and we’ll tailor the search accordingly.
How do you find candidates if they aren’t applying?
Many of the best fire protection techs and fitters are fully employed and not watching job boards. We use direct outreach, headhunting, referral networks, and role-specific screening to connect with “working-but-open” candidates.
What information do you need to start a search?
Role details (service/install/inspection), territory, on-call/travel expectations, systems and scope, licensing/certification requirements, schedule, compensation structure, tools/truck policy, and what a “great hire” looks like for your team. The clearer the intake, the faster the results.
Do you recruit for leadership and senior staff?
Yes. We routinely recruit senior technicians, foremen, service managers, and other leadership roles—especially when a company is scaling, expanding into new territories, or needs experienced staff to mentor and train junior technicians.
How do your fees work?
We typically work on a contingency basis—meaning you only pay if you hire. Fee and guarantee terms depend on your agreement and the role(s). If you are hiring multiple positions, ask us about volume options.
