Trailer Mechanic
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician to join our team. This position involves performing DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, mechanical/hydraulic/electrical diagnostics, and more, all while working in the field. You will work under the guidance of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician to gain advanced diagnostic and repair skills. This role requires a high level of independence and the ability to consistently meet performance metrics while adhering to company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Conduct repairs on various truck equipment systems including electrical, brakes, cooling systems, starters, alternators, engine electronics, transmissions, clutches, and more.
- Perform adjustments and repairs on trailer systems such as brakes, air lines, liftgates, and auxiliary engines.
- Diagnose and repair issues with truck and trailer equipment using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic tools.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm repairs.
- Independently manage parts inventory on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain a company-issued service vehicle and ensure safety checks and inspections are conducted regularly.
- Provide high-quality customer service by communicating effectively with clients to assess their needs and resolve problems.
- Follow safety protocols and comply with company policies, as well as federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.
- Use hand tools, diesel tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to perform repairs.
- Document work performed using company-issued mobile devices and the TRAIT application.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field (or 5 years of experience in lieu of formal education).
- Active CDL B (Commercial Driver’s License) required.
- Must possess and supply own hand tools necessary to perform job duties.
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification required within 18 months.
- Must pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and physical before employment.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Safe driving history with a 3-year MVR review required.
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):
- ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical), T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609 certification.

- Capability to work efficiently under pressure while prioritizing tasks.
- Physically able to perform demanding labor, including repetitive tasks.

Compensation:
- Hourly pay: $26.06 – $39.13 per hour (based on experience and location).
- Potential for additional compensation such as commission and/or incentive programs.
Additional Paid Time Off:
