Experienced Automotive Service Advisor
Location: West Side of Manhattan, NY
Compensation: $70,000/year to $100,000/year+ (Weekly Base + Commission)
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours/week) + Benefits
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Advisor to be the primary point of contact between our service department and customers. This role is ideal for someone who excels at customer communication, understands automotive service operations, and can confidently manage repair orders from write-up through delivery.
You’ll greet customers, assess service needs, prepare detailed repair orders, coordinate with technicians, and ensure a smooth, transparent service experience — all while maintaining high customer satisfaction standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally; obtain vehicle and customer information
- Listen to customer concerns and help identify mechanical issues through questioning, visual inspections, or road tests
- Advise customers on routine maintenance and manufacturer-recommended services
- Prepare accurate repair orders including labor, parts, time, and cost estimates
- Clearly document customer concerns to assist technicians with diagnosis
- Communicate inspection results and recommend corrective repairs
- Obtain customer authorization for additional work and updated estimates
- Explain completed repairs and review charges upon vehicle pickup
- Schedule service appointments and manage work-in-progress communication
- Handle customer concerns and resolve complaints professionally
- Monitor repair progress throughout the day and provide status updates
- Coordinate incoming work with dispatch and technicians
- Maintain accurate service records and close repair orders properly
- Support quality control efforts to reduce comebacks
- Ensure vehicles are parked securely and keys are properly managed
- Keep service menus, pricing guides, and forms up to date
- Inspect vehicles for potential body work and provide estimates when needed
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold dealership standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Service Advisor / Service Writer experience (required)
- Working knowledge of CDK (required)
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple repair orders in a fast-paced environment
