Fire Protection Technician – Lead Engineering Department
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Fire Protection Technician to lead our engineering department. We’re looking for a Texas-licensed P.E. with strong technical expertise and a collaborative, outgoing personality to expand and enhance our engineering services.
What You’ll Do:
As a Fire Protection Technician, you will manage multiple projects of varying types and sizes, including office buildings, residential developments, warehouses, and industrial facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include both engineering and project management tasks, such as:
- Designing fire protection and notification systems (e.g., automatic fire sprinklers, fire pumps, fire water storage tanks, and fire alarms). This may involve preparing drawings, editing specifications, or drafting narrative descriptions of project requirements.
- Reviewing projects to ensure compliance with ICC and NFPA codes and preparing reports on findings.
- Providing innovative, code-compliant solutions tailored to client needs.
- Conducting site visits to assess and document building conditions and fire protection systems.
- Classifying hazardous materials processes and storage, including preparing Hazardous Materials Inventory Statements (commodity/occupancy classification letters).
- Participating in project meetings and effectively communicating with design teams, clients, owners, and building/fire officials as needed.
- Engaging in business development activities, building relationships with clients, participating in local organizations, and contributing to firm growth.
What You Need to Succeed:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Texas P.E. license or the ability to obtain one.
- At least 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering (preferred).
- Proficiency in interpreting and applying International Building and Fire Codes and NFPA Standards to various projects.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience using software such as Windows, Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, BlueBeam Revu, HydraCAD, CONTAM, KYPipe, AutoCAD, and Revit for fire protection system design.

Compensation:
- Salary: $90,500 – $175,000 per year (based on experience, education, and skillset)
Additional Information:
- The position is full-time and based in San Antonio, TX 78217.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates moving to the area.
